A model online store

I have written a lot in the past about the wonderful world of e-commerce and how the Internet is changing the way we shop and browse things. Let me look at a real life store, to make the concept of online shopping cleared. The store in question sells American Flags among other things. The focus is on flags, but the store covers a gamut of patriotism related items. From car flags, wall flags to Outdoor Flagpoles you find it all here.

The site navigation is fairly simple as a good online store should be but one wishes it had a more modern look, with more graphics on the home page. The coverage of US flags and the various states is good; you get to know the history behind the flags. The memorabilia, patriotic decorations and gifts are varied.

The menu could be made friendlier with some drop down option, so a shopper does not have to navigate layer by layer. This could be a turn off for some. I mean when I come to the home page, a single click should take me to my objective, rather than main to state list then my choice.

The world section could do with a section explaining the histories behind the flags and memorabilia. Also, memorabilia from local patriotic events would make the store better.

Overall, the store gives you a good idea of what an online shopping experience should be like, and like any business it needs constant improvement and change to keep on top.
